Database Distribution: Contact mail

Part of the configuring of a Master export or a Slave import job is the selection of a list of one or more contacts who have to receive mail. This mail is of two types:-

Heartbeat mail These should arrive on a regular basis and at a frequency that is configured using the heartbeat_freq parameter. They contain a summary of activity since the previous heartbeat mail. If these mails don't appear then the contacts know that something has gone wrong
No news is not good news!
Error Reports These are sent whenever an error occurs and should normally include a copy of the job log file in which the error occurred. The system also renames the failing job log file and reports the new unique name that it has given it so that even if the mail gets lost there is a permanent record of the problem. After dealing with problems these log files should be erased.

You can also receive reports of significant changes to the database i.e. those that could affect production running. To do this add your email address to the file:-

    $SRT_PUBLIC_CONTEXT/DatabaseMaintenance/scripts/logentry_mail_list

and commit it, or get someone who has the privileges to do it for you.
