Clean the detector
side of the optical cable with the appropriate lens tissue using ethyl
alcohol.
Hook the optical
cable and the LI cableto themodule :
Clean (as done above)
the optical connector on the module.
Place the thicker and
thinner dowel on the optical connector on the module.
Adjust the black rubber
band on the optical cable connector.
Place the sock on the
detector end of the optical cable.
i.Use optical
grease between the plane and optical cable connection.
Screw the optical cable
on the module. Make sure you use washers to prevent the screws from damaging the connector.
Hook the LI cable on
the ashtray after passing it through the sock (the
length of the LI cables should determine in what strip manifold they
are connected, for the spectrometer region the J manifold receives 3 LI
fibers, the fibers should increase monotonically).
viii.Place the
felt on the most downstream part of the ashtray.
viii.Use black tape
to secure the LI cables on the optical cable connector, just blow the optical
connector label.
Use cable ties to tie
the LI cable to the optical cable.
Use cable ties to tie
the sock on the optical cable (approximately 3 inches away from the
optical cable connector).
Securethe optical
cable closing the clamps (Make sure everything is done properly since
it is not easy to open the clamp once it is closed).
Use cable ties to tie
up the LI cable
with the optical cable BUT NOT ALL THE WAY THROUGH since these two will
be going to different racks (the optical cable to the one with the
Alner Boxes and the LI cable to the one with the LI pulser).
Screwthe
strain relieves on the plane AND make sure (using an
optical cable) that they are in the right position and of the right
length.
Check for
light leaks connecting every Alner box end of the optical cable to the
special optical cable that is read out by the PMT sitting on the
“special” light leak testing rack.
B) Alner box end
Hook the optical
cable to the Alner Box :
i.Clean (as done above) the optical connector on
the Alner box and the Optical cable.
Place the thicker
and thinner dowel on the optical connector on the Alner box connector.
Adjust the black rubber
ribbon on the optical cable connector.
Screw the optical cable
on the Alner Box connector. Make sure you use washers to prevent the screws from damaging the connector.
C)
LI Pulser end
Hook the LI cable to
the LI Box :
Clean (as done above)
the optical connector of the LI cable and on the LI Box
Screw the LI cable on
the LI box according to the appropriate scheme :
