Shaft, Tunnel and Hall MINOS Detector both Cranes
Detailed Description
We will move two scintillation counters from MC7 to the downstream end of the MINOS ND. The counters are 15x15x400 cm. The weight of each is about 75 kg. Supports for these counters in the MINOS hall are already in place. Movement from the shaft to the downstream end of the ND will be through the access tunnel. We may want to use the hall crane for lifting at the downstream end of MINOS ND, but we will not use this crane to transport materials above the detectors.
Update on Wed Feb 08, 2012 : This task is to install a new time of flight system for Minos. The system consists of a unistrut frame secured to the Minos Bookend and scintillator bars previously used in E907 for their time of flight system. We wil need teh shaft crane to lower the bars into the cavern and the hall crane to pick them up and hang them onto the unistrut frame. John Voirin's techs will do all of the crane work and will be assisted by a couple of post-docs. The bars weigh about 100 lbs each and there are no unusual hazards in the task.
